Rock music at Aardvark Records
Rock music is one of our passions. We remember the days, with pride, when we jumped about with our air guitars rocking out to the likes of Zeppelin, Hendrix, Boston, Frampton, Foreigner and many others. We love the fact that we grew up during the golden age of rock music. Ok, so we still rocked out to the likes of Nirvana, Blink 182 and The Police too. We have a passion for stand-out rock that stretches back for decades. When it comes to signing a rock band, we look for a few things. It’s a small list, but essential: It must stand out from the pack, It has to have a unique identity, It must offer something that nobody else offers, and It must have 100% commitment and passion to the music. If it ever came to making a decision between being rich and famous just to be rich and famous - or being respected for producing exceptional music…we sign bands that would choose the latter.Rock Music Videos

Callel
"Young, talented revelations Callel are a four-piece with a refreshing urge to sound that bit different...Callel look to a super future." - The Scotsman
The four members of the indie Rock - Britpop crossover band Callel grew up in the same area of Granton in Edinburgh; they went to the same school, played in the same football team, caught the same nits…but it wasn't until years later that they got together as a band.
They soon found their feet on the live scene and supported Paolo Nutini, Rooney, Asobi Seksu, The Hip Parade, The Bluetones and The Holloways among others. Read the Full Story

Drop Down Gods
Wolfgang Csacsinovits and Bernhard Kern formed Drop Down Gods in 2006. The band was based on the one-man project EMPATHY.
Drop Down Gods strives for a sophisticated mix of electronic samples and beats, elements of alternative rock, and powerful melodies. After 2 years of playing concerts and polishing their musical style, the duo decided to reach a wider audience.
They took a year off from performing to produce their first album in 2009. All of the songwriting, arrangements, instrumentals, vocals, and programming have been created and performed by the two musicians. The finished album is more progressive than the group’s original sound, with an edgier beat, deeper lyrics, and more interesting sounds that creates awesome atmospheres.

Rock band Raising Days came to life in 2009. San Francisco-based guitarist David Roesli desire was to resurrect a classic 1980’s classic progressive rock sound by breathing new life into a hackneyed genre. David found the Italian-born and Chilean raised singer Alba Salamina on MySpace. Drummer Tommy Rickard, Keyboardist David Klotz and Bassist John Walden joined a few months’ later.
The band members bring considerable music industry experience to the band. David has long been a successful touring guitarist. Alba, originally signed to Sony Records, worked on solo projects before joining the band. Her previous career included extensive touring in South America with numerous live appearances on music television. John, a native of New Orleans, performed in a number of local bands before making the jump to a successful career as a session musician working throughout the US.

Smiley was a hard-edged, alternative rock group based in Liverpool. When they signed to the management company Blue Moon Entertainment in 1997, Smiley had been together for just short of two years. However, the band members had known each other since their early school days. In those days, they shared a common love of rock music and skateboarding.
Smiley’s profile steadily increased under Blue Moon with regular features in the Merseyside & UK press. Granada Television and Channel 5’s programme RAD were a handful of UK broadcasters who used Smiley tracks.
A headlining spot at Liverpool Now for two consecutive years, a tour of Poland and a European distribution deal saw their profile rise dramatically.
Smiley wrote, arranged and co-produced their own music - no mean feat for a bunch of fiteen and sixteen year olds. Although they were still very young men, Smiley earned the respect of musical peers - including the respect of top studio technicians and producers. Read the Full Story

Weedy Indie, new rave, old wave, post-rock blah blah blah…at last an Alternative Rock band to cut through all the bullshit and actually make you fall in love with music again - as said by Alex Fltecher from Pheonix 97.8 FM in the US.
Critical response to their live shows has been ecstatic, prompting one UK journalist to exclaim "The Truths are the best band I've seen in ten year." Stoked Magazine calls them "a sexy, aggressive wall of sound" and The Guardian calling them “absolutely f*****g amazing!” And the high praise carries on from here.
After Anthony Neale (vocals, formerly signed to Sony BMG) and Joe Taylor (guitar) met through a mutual friend they started jamming on Anthony's songs. A strong musical partnership was formed almost immediately and they knew they wanted to set the world ablaze with their music. Read the Full Story

Indie rock band Jaff is the Gordon Ramsey recipe from hell. Add one part mad Frenchman to two parts eccentric English dudes and you have the basic ingredients for a quirky, zany, tantric-sex explosion of energy called Jaff.
It would be easy to introduce Jaff as another indie/alternative rock band. This would be a disservice. Their sound is a mashup of power Indie Britpop with a post-modern punk right hook, touch of psychedelia and a hell of an edge. And they were doing it long before bands like Blink 182 made it fashionable.
In a short space the band recorded a mini album with tracks regularly played on independent French, Swiss and German radio stations... and BBC Radio 1. They have toured with and supported Salad, Baby Chaos, Nada Surf and Addict on their European tours. They are also no strangers to European music festivals, playing FIMU and Aux Portes de L'Enfer (the charmingly named Doors of Hell) amongst others. Jaff has also had two very successful tours of Italy and Poland under its belt. Read the Full Story
