The Cornwall-based independent record label Aardvark Records today announced two new manufacturing and distribution deals. The new manufacturing and distribution partners will see Aardvark releases in Indonesia and North America.
Insight Unlimited will handle manufacturing and distribution of Aardvark’s catalogue in Indonesia. The music company, better known for handling EMI Music CMG Distribution’s catalogue for the same territory, approached the British record label in April. The deal, signed last week, will see Aardvark artists such as Zetan Spore, Jeff Alford, DJ Front, Daisy Hicks and new signing Torso distributed to over 250 retail outlets in Indonesia.
Aardvark Records Head of Communications, Alex di Savoia, said: "This is an unexpected and absolutely amazing development for us. We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with such a powerhouse distributor. It’ great news that our artists CDs, downloads and ringtones will be available in this important Southeast Asian market."
"We’re delighted to start this partnership with Aardvark Records and distribute their great music in Indonesia. And I believe this will be rewarding for both parties," said Yoshua Hariyanto, International Sales & Marketing Manager for Insight Unlimited.
Aardvark has also announced a manufacturing and distribution deal in North America with the CD on Demand company Kunaki. North America has always been one of the labels’ strongest territories for the sale of music downloads, ringtones and mobile audio and video content. Kunaki marks the first time the label’s releases will be available in North America on CD.
di Savoia said: "Kunaki offers an exceptional solution to our previous difficulties in securing North American CD distribution. While downloads are popular in the US and Canada, the CD is still the music format of choice.” When talking about the importance of being able to manufacture CDs within North America, di Savoia commented that “The ability for Aardvark to manufacture retail-ready CDs within the US is vital. It means our CDs aren’t classed as imports - with a higher price tag than North American CDs. The bottom line is we can compete with parity within the North American domestic market."
