EricM tops DJMR's 2006 download

chart

EricM, the gold-selling Capetown-based electro house supreme, notched up another career high by being one of the most downloaded artists on the paid download music platform DJMR. The single 'Touch Faith' came in at number 4 in the 2006 Top 100 most downloaded
tracks chart
on Canada’s answer to Beatport.  While all of the remixes of ‘Touch Faith’ were popular DJMR downloads, the 'Afro Mix' remix was the clear frontrunner.

DJMR Music Download is a complete MP3 digital dance music store that delivers s the ultimate digital dance music download experience to DJ's and dance music fans. Launched in early 2005, the digital download provider has seen annual visits rapidly increase from an initial 30,000 per year. DJMR Music Download is a recent offshoot from the successful and respected DJMR vinyl and DJ equipment store.

When asked why he thought 'Touch Faith' had found favour amongst his fellow Canadians, DJMR's vice president Jean Mercier said "That's easy. The beats and vocals are perfect!"

Aardvark Records spokesperson, Alex di Savoia, said "EricM has received some great support in Canada.  Dance radio DJs have responded well to his singles.  So have Canadian music video channels like bpm:tv. We’re pleased to see that support reflected in Canadian download sales."

When asked about the success of a relatively new digital download service like DJMR, di Savoia didn’t hesitate. "DJMR really got behind ‘Touch Faith’.  It was one of their featured tracks for the first month it was available.  There’s no secret, really.  When a download provider puts itself out to recommend a track in the way DJMR did, you usually see that reflected in the sales figures. There’s a great crew behind the service.  If they personally like a track they will support it. It doesn’t really seem to matter if they are familiar with an artist or a label. It’s all about the music and not politics.  That’s the way it should be."
