Jeff Alford nominated for Cravefest

music video award

Trance producer and DJ Jeff Alford is among the nominees for awards at Cravefest, a non-profit international music video awards festival scheduled for Toronto in August.

The top 5 music videos from both signed and unsigned groups were announced on 19 August by Cravefest organizers. They were selected by online voters from a long list on the Cravefest website.

The Rennes (France) based Alford, signed to the UK independent record label Aardvark Records, has been nominated Signed Electronic category for his debut 3D animated video Visions in Space which he produced through his new music video production company Jamixart Productions.

The video will be competing against Belgium’s The Virgin Dolls for No Love (Final Mix), Germany’s Fruehbel for Leave, USA’s Tricky Bizzniss for C’mon C’mon and The Netherlands’s Polished for Lose It All

The video was produced for Alford’s single Visions in Space from his debut album Heart of Trance.  It features a quirky tale of man versus rabbit in a galaxy not too far away and sets the scene for Alford’s follow-up video which will be released in a few months’ time. It has proven a very popular video with international music video broadcast channels and video pools.

Terra Rizzuto from BPM:TV in Canada is an enthusiastic supporter of the video. “This is an impressive debut video from Jeff Alford. It’s uplifting trance at its best! This animated video hit is getting lots of airplay on ‘Cartunes’ on bpm:tv!”

Max Leinwand, Foot Locker’s Director of Programming, gave his reasons why Alford’s video has been so well received in Footlocker stores. “Jeff’s video worked perfectly for the Foot Locker Network. Its CG ambient visuals look great on the stores' screens and the lively instrumental track enhances the in-store shopping experience.  This is a big hit for us!"

With a majority of the nominated acts coming from the USA and Canada, Alford and Krystal (Unsigned Rock category) were the only acts from France to be nominated.

UK nominees include Thom Yorke for And It Rained All Night and Flipron for both Dogboy vs. Monsters and Raindrops Keep Falling on the Dead in the Signed Rock Category as well as iLLAMADi for Top Boy and Charlie Sloth for Guided Tour of Camden in the Unsigned Hip-Hop/R&B category plus Scarlet Blonde for Bedroom Superstar in the Unsigned Electronica category.

Cravefest will be held Aug. 14-17 in Toronto, with the music video awards on the final day.

About Jeff Alford
Jeff Alford just might hold the key for igniting another dance floor revolution while putting France on the global map of dance music.  He certainly holds the key for exporting electronica that captures the imagination of dance music enthusiasts outside of his adopted French homeland. Clubbers around the globe find themselves dancing to the beats of Jeff Alford’s new album, ‘Heart of Trance’, released on the UK record label Aardvark Records.

Alford has set Belgium, Sweden, Portugal, America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand on fire with his hot trance single ‘Visions in Space’. The single has been a ‘breakout’ chart hit on Belgium’s Tempo Radio.  DJ record pools, services that send out singles to thousands of club and radio DJs, have also been big supporters of the single.  It has gone on to grab top chart spots with American DJ and record pool services such as Masspool and Infamous Record Pool, to name just a few.

About Aardvark Records
Aardvark Dance is the new dance music division of Aardvark Records, a subsidiary of the privately held Aardvark Music Ltd.

Established in 2001, Aardvark Records is one of the UK's most creative record labels with an international reach disproportionate to its small size. Its staunchly independent stance and pioneering spirit have produced a string of well-received releases worldwide, spanning a variety of music genres: dance, pop and rock. Aardvark Dance’s current hit-making writers and producers include: EricM, Zetan Spore, Thabani, Everett Young, Yahel and Jeff Alford.

Based in Penryn, Cornwall, Aardvark started life as a local record label handling a variety of Cornwall-based artists. It became a small national independent label in 2002 and has since grown into an international label with a network of in-house licensing agents and A&R spread around the globe.

Its directors bring a collective 25 years' music industry experience to the label.
