UK trance DJ/producer/remixer,

Phil Hiett, signs to Aardvark

The nascent UK trance dj/remixer/producer, Phil Hiett, has signed an agreement with Aardvark Records. Hiett, who submitted his end-of-year university project as a demo, was immediately picked up by the dance division of Aardvark Records.

Alex diSavoia, head of Aardvark's dance division, laughs when talking about the way Hiett was signed. "I know, I know, this sort of thing never happens, does it? A student sends some production work off to a label and they get snapped up straight away. But i'm telling you, it was that good. And that demo is pretty much the album that's coming out."

When asked why Hiett, di Savoia continued, "It wasn't any one thing that made me say ' I have to have this guy'. The production quality was spot on, the energy levels were simply brilliant, the hooks just grabbed me and the trip his demo took me on was fantastic. Phil's own energy levels were infectious but most importantly, he was willing to listen to the advice Andy Reeve and I gave him. Too few artists actually listen to constructive feedback. phil just took it in his stride and went away and incorporated our pointers into the finished tracks."

Aardvark and Hiett scored a hit when the label decided to test a few of Hiett's tracks on the online radio platform, Last FM. Future releases 'Blacklight' 'This is London' and 'Hit on Me' were exceptionally well received on one of the most democratic platforms on the internet. Hiett's tracks racked up an impressive Last FM listenership within the first 48 hours of being available on the service.

Online radio stations like Ibiza Sounds and Tempo FM were quick to provide enthusiastic feedback and support.

Hiett's debut album, 'The Second Coming' will be one of the first albums launched under Aardvark's own brand in the UK in early 2007.
