RIVERAIRE (UK)
Click above to play tracks from Down To The Ground AAC / Adult Contemporary Pop / Singer Songwriter Riveraire are a shimmering kaleidoscope of pop, crafted with a love of soaring melodies, heartfelt words and a passionate performance. Their radiant melodies are shining through on the latest Riveraire single – the sublime power pop ballad 'Round and Round'. The track builds on their defining debut album, "Down To The Ground" – a vivid collection of pure pop anthems. Riveraire are a London-based songwriting trio – a melting pot of diverse backgrounds, experiences and musical influences. Australian born singer/songwriter Caroline Loftus takes much inspiration from the worlds of jazz, Latin and swing. An accomplished artist and performer, Caroline has appeared around the globe at venues including Ronnie Scott’s, the Jazz Café, the Den in New York and the Sydney Opera House. She has also penned three solo albums – Sugar, Close Your Eyes and Urban Lullabies – which have been released to critical acclaim. Growing up on the other side of the world to Caroline, British songwriters and musicians Paul Carr and Paul Nolan hail from Yorkshire, and cut their teeth with indie pop bands in the region. The group’s name was inspired by their northern roots and the river Aire, which wends its way through their hometown of Skipton. Just like the line from a famous song, the three met in a London bar where Caroline was waitressing, after recently moving to the capital from Australia. Drawn together by their mutual affection for songwriting, they agreed to meet up and have a stab at writing together. With a couple of acoustic guitars, take away pizzas and a bottle of wine for support, the trio struck lucky with their first session, where the track Down to the Ground began to take shape. The song defines Riveraire’s love of a rousing tune and a captivating lyric which, combined with Caroline’s rich and luscious vocals, has helped to win fans and open doors for the group. The track was shortlisted for a new talent competition run by the mobile content website voeveo, and sponsored by Aardvark Records. Down to the Ground went on to win the competition, and the prize of mentorship and licensing with the label. With a catalogue of carefully crafted songs under their belt, including the resonating ballads Beautiful Love and Scared of Standing Still, Riveraire subsequently signed with Aardvark. It’s apt that mobile has brought Riveraire to voeveo, Aardvark and a wider audience, as this everyday technology has been integral to their songwriting. New song ideas are put to the test and recorded on mobile answer phone, in the knowledge that messages are automatically deleted after seven days. If the song hasn’t firmly lodged itself in the mind after a week then it’s lost forever. This simple idea has helped Riveraire to strive for songs with instant appeal, that also aim to shine and linger long after they were written.
