adult contemporary soul rhythm and blues The Cleft Way are songwriter BB Mayes, Vocalist Kym Franklin and bass guitarist and co-vocalist Mark Burleson. Following on from writing popular radio tracks for Satya Graha, Mayes began writing a catalogue of songs which were unlike anything he had written before in terms of style and subject matter. The songs were originally intended for what was to be a follow-up album for Satya Graha. However, the canon of songs that were created in this period didn't suit any of the projects he was involved with. Mayes conceived a studio project to record the songs he had finished writing - that studio project was The Cleft Way. He began working with longtime friends Kym Franklin and Mark Burleson in arranging and recording the tracks. The result was the album 'Where Three Roads Meet'. The project was no less distinctive than Mayes's songs. The project is a mixture of Adult Contemporary tracks and old school rhythm and blues. Kym brought her considerable experience as a powerful and versatile vocalist into the recording studio. She has mastered her own style of singing - eclectic soul. Kym has performed throughout Europe, Jamaica and the U.S. sharing the stage with the O'Jays, Chuck Berry, Jesse Dixon, Al Green, Taylor Dayne and Bill Cosby. She has also provided background vocals for R. Kelly. Kym is a talent that is demand for stages, studios and vocal coaching. Mark Burleson has been working with Mayes since Mayes created the team behind Satya Graha. Mark joined the group as their sound engineer producer. It wasn't too long before he began contributing musically (Bass and Guitar) as well as technically, when he produced Satya Graha's 'Under the Skin Vol.1.
